Federal Fair Housing Act
The Federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq.) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, financing, and advertising of housing based on the following protected classes:

- National Origin
- Religion
- Sex
- Familial Status (including presence of children under 18 and pregnancy)
- Disability (physical or mental)
Illinois Human Rights Act
The Illinois Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/) provides additional protections beyond federal law. In Illinois, it is unlawful to discriminate in real estate transactions based on:
- Race, Color, or National Origin
- Religion or Creed
- Sex or Sexual Orientation
- Familial Status
- Disability
- Ancestry
- Age
- Order of Protection Status
- Marital Status
- Military Status
- Unfavorable Discharge from Military Service
Chicago Fair Housing Ordinance
The City of Chicago further prohibits discrimination on the basis of source of income (including housing vouchers), gender identity, and other characteristics under the Chicago Fair Housing Ordinance (Chicago Municipal Code § 5-8-010 et seq.).
Our Commitment
River North Residential is committed to providing equal professional services in connection with the sale, purchase, financing, lease, and management of residential real property. We will not:
- Refuse to sell, rent, or negotiate with any person based on a protected characteristic
- Discriminate in the terms, conditions, or privileges of a sale or rental

- Steer clients toward or away from particular neighborhoods based on protected characteristics
